Common questions about working with Beyond Meds.
If you don’t see your question, write to hello@beyondmeds.in.
How is this different from regular medicine?
Regular care is excellent at managing symptoms and keeping numbers in range, often with a daily pill for life. Our work starts one step earlier, with the question of why your body is producing those numbers in the first place. The aim is to fix the upstream cause so that long-term chronic medication becomes less necessary over time. We are not anti-medicine. We are pro getting you off the medicines you should not need to take forever.
Do I have to stop my current medications?
No, and please never stop a prescription on your own. Your existing medicines are doing real work and keeping you safe right now. As your labs and symptoms shift, Dr. Nupur will taper doses with you, in writing, at a pace your body agrees with. The goal is to make those medicines less necessary, not to pull them away.
What conditions do you actually work with?
The five we work with most are diabetes and insulin resistance, PCOS, thyroid issues, gut problems, and skin conditions like acne and eczema. Most people who come to us have more than one of these going on at the same time, which is exactly the kind of multi-system case our method is built for. If your situation does not fit, we will tell you in the application stage rather than waste your fee.
Is this Ayurveda? Naturopathy?
No. Dr. Nupur is an MBBS-trained allopathic doctor, and the entire method runs on standard pathology, blood work, and clinical reasoning. What is different is the lens, which is functional and root-cause rather than symptom-and-prescription. Allopathic and functional approaches are complementary, not opposites, and we use both depending on what your case needs.
How do consultations work?
Every consult happens online over Zoom or Google Meet, so you can join from home. The session is recorded and the recording is shared with you afterwards, along with your written plan. Between calls, follow-ups and small clarifications happen by email so nothing important lives only in memory.
Do I need to travel to your clinic?
No, the practice is fully online. Tests are done at any NABL-accredited lab in your own city, and the reports come straight to us. You do not need to travel for a single appointment, which is part of why patients from smaller towns and abroad are able to work with us.
Where do I get the lab tests done?
Any NABL-accredited lab in India works, so you can use the one closest to home or the one your family already trusts. We send you the test order with exact panel names, and you book the slot at the lab directly. Once the report is ready, you forward the PDF to us and we take it from there.
How long does the whole process take?
The Diagnostic call is a single 60-minute session. The Ascend programme runs about 30 days, and Elixir runs about 90 days, depending on how your labs move. For chronic cases that have been building for years, a full unwind, including tapering medications safely, is usually a 6 to 12 month arc rather than a quick fix.
Will I have to take a lot of supplements?
It depends on your case, and we use the smallest set that does the actual job. Most patients are on three to six targeted supplements at the start, and that list shrinks as your body recovers. Supplements are tools we use for a stretch, not a lifestyle you sign up for forever.
Do you accept insurance?
Not at the moment. Indian health insurance is built around hospitalisation and acute care, and outpatient functional medicine is not yet a recognised category. We hope this changes as more doctors practise this way, and we will update the site the day it does.
Can I be your patient if I am not in India?
Yes, and we have patients in the Gulf, the UK, the US, and Singapore. Consults run on Zoom on a time that works across your timezone, and the written plan is the same as for our India patients. Lab logistics outside India are your responsibility, since panel availability and pricing vary by country, but we will tell you exactly what to order.
I am pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning. Can I still join?
Some workflows are safe and useful in these stages, and others are not, so this is a case-by-case call. Please flag your status clearly in the application form, including how many weeks or months along you are, so Dr. Nupur can review before you pay anything. If a programme is not the right fit for now, we will say so and suggest a better time to start.
How much does this cost?
The Diagnostic consultation is between ₹3,000 and ₹6,000 depending on case complexity, and is paid before the call so the slot is held for you. Programme fees vary with what your case actually needs, and we share the exact figure after the Diagnostic, in writing, so you can decide with full information. Insurance does not currently cover this.
Is this for me if I am just curious, not very ill?
Honestly, the programme is built for people with a chronic condition that is affecting daily life, and it would be more depth than you need right now. If you are simply curious, start with our free Symptom Checker and read a few posts on the journal. If something there matches what you are feeling, the application form is always open.
